Serving Others

Did you know that God loves using His people to be His hands and feet here on earth? As followers of Jesus, our job is to remain obedient and willing. When we are open to Him, He will use us to bless and serve others.

Now, I know we live in a crazy world where people are coming and going, and sometimes, it’s hard to know what to do or what to say. Being intentional with others can seem scary and uncomfortable. But what if I told you that you have a leader, called the Holy Spirit, who lives inside of you and is guiding your every move?

The Bible says that when you don’t know what to say, the Holy Spirit will come and help you! (Luke 12:11-12) All we need to do is listen, and God will prompt us at the right moment, at the right time, to say or do something. So great news, you don’t have to feel alone or nervous, although I do understand those feelings.

Another form of help we can look to is the example Jesus laid out for us when He was here on earth. He came down from Heaven, joined us in humanity, and took on everything. He had to learn how to walk, eat, talk, deal with emotions, and face life issues. There is nothing that we go through now that He hasn’t gone through before. He understands what you and I are facing every day, and He knows just what we need every time. This is so comforting to me. You and I have a leader, a Savior, who can relate to us and has personally walked the walk.

One thing that helps me shift my focus and mindset is asking God to give me His eyes. I want to see the world the way God sees it. I want to see others through the lens of love, not judgement. I want to have compassion towards those that are broken.

It’s so easy to look at someone from the outside and think they have it all together. Have you ever heard the saying, “Never judge a book by its cover?” Well, I think the same is true for humans. We never know what someone is going through, especially by the way they look from the outside. This is why it’s so important to ask for direction and wisdom from God so that He can lead you in how to love and serve them best.

You see, viewing this world through God’s lens will give us more grace and patience with people. We will start to judge less and love more.

Remember, when you’re out there serving others, you may be the only hope, joy, and love that person will ever see!
