Psalm 121

As I was praying about what to share for this week's blog, God led me to Psalm 121. It has encouraged me over the years to turn to God in all of my troubles.

I want to share this chapter with you, and I want you to ask God to speak to you through it!

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber;

indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand;

the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life;

the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

How many of us have a story where we were in trouble, in a bad accident, or in a really scary position that the only explanation of why we were safe is that God stepped in. I have a few of those stories where God literally saved my life. The world would say it's impossible, but God steps in and says, "Not on my watch!"

This is what the Psalm is talking about. Our God, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, who is watching over us and keeps us from all harm.

While this is so encouraging, especially when we feel scared and unsure, there is the reality that we will still fear because we are human.

Every single day, I pray for protection over my family. While I know that God is watching over us and protecting us, the enemy still likes to sneak his way in my head and make me fear.

If we're all honest, we could admit that sometimes our fear and uncertainty keep us from seeing what God is doing and how He's blessing us.

I'm on this journey with you. I'm not perfect, and neither are you! But we must try to fix our eyes on what God is doing and trust that He always has our back!

Say this out loud to yourself:

God is with you every step of the way, and He will not let your foot slip. He watches over you (and your family) and will keep you from all harm.
