Unmotivated
Feeling unmotivated is something we all struggle with from time to time.
You can be unmotivated because you have too many things on your to-do list, you’re exhausted, or maybe if you’re honest there is a little bit of laziness or procrastination happening.
For me, all those reasons apply. However, I have one main reason that fights me every day the most, and that is my health. When I don’t physically feel well, it is extremely difficult to be productive.
I have days where I push through and suppress all my pain and other days where I cannot get out of bed. I try to give myself grace and listen to my body, but I am not always great at that.
My horse, Grace, can be very unmotivated at times, too. She is a big snuggle bug and wants to be by your side all hours of the day. She also loves to eat. But because she loves to eat so much, we need her to exercise.
When I go to exercise her, she really needs me to be super interesting for her to want to fully engage and have fun. She needs to understand the purpose behind what we’re doing so she doesn’t become disinterested or bored.
This sometimes makes it more challenging because now I am having to put more of my energy into being interesting and fun, but in turn it will help her be more motivated and engaged.
Luckily for us, we have access to the primary source of motivation. We don’t have to wait around for someone to be interesting for us to feel motivated. We have Jesus! The one who can fill us up with all strength, determination, and motivation.
Next time you feel unmotivated, ask God to give you a supernatural level of energy, focus, and determination. Ask for discernment on how He wants you to be productive that day. Ask for strength on the days you feel so weak. And lastly, know that He will carry you through on the days that feel so impossible.
